Alistair Sawday's "Special Places to Stay in Ireland" "Terry is dedicated to his own style, a Skerries fanatic,
a mover and shaker in promoting this under visited (in his view) seaside
region. President of the Restaurants Association of Ireland, an irrepressible
original. He is a very fine shellfish and seafood chef with an away of
awards...if you want the opinions of others. But go and see for yourself.
The restaurant is the mainstay of the place and ingredients are locally
obtained where possible , freshest seafood from Skerries Harbour, wonderful
Dublin Bay Prawns, even Razor Fish, normally seen as long empty shells
on the beach. Aperitifs are in a warm anti-room where difficult decisions
are taken with the menus and an atmosphere of anticipation is engendered.
There are two buildings for B & Ber's. The old bank house itself which
adjoins the restaurant (the wine cellar is the old safe with its original
door) is the most recently decorated. Rooms have all mod cons like TV
and telephone, but also comfort and good quality beds. This is a great
place for training into Dublin and avoiding the traffic... or for the
last excellent meal before leaving Ireland from the nearby airport." |
